Oprah Winfrey, Teavana, and Starbucks have come together to promote the education of struggling young women around the world. Tomorrow Teavana will begin brewing an exclusive tea made in connection to the African American mogul Oprah Winfrey. Oprah Winfrey Chai Tea is an infusion of cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and cloves with loose leaf black tea and rooibos.
Oprah Winfey is asking you to “Steep Your Soul” as donations to her charities will be as followed:
- $0.25 for each Teavana Oprah Chai handcrafted beverage
- $1.00 for every 2 ounce Oprah Chai Tea
- $1.00 for every tea tin
- $4.00 for every Teavana gift set
Everyone is raving about the taste of Oprah Winfrey Chai Tea. With Teavana having over three hundred location and Starbucks having over nineteen thousand store, these charities will gain serious donations over the next month. The question is if it is enough. Is Oprah Winfrey and Starbucks really making an impact. Is this about the profit margin in time for Mother’s Day.
Most Teavana 2 ounce teas are nearly $8 per purchase. A tea tin can range from $5 – $30. Gift sets can range between $20 – $100. If each store just had one customer, Teavana would roughly make a minimum of $60,000. The charities would roughly gain a minimum of $5000. Doesn’t seem like a financial balance does it. The gourmet coffee and tea mogul is standing to make a financial gain twelve times more then Oprah Winfreys charities.
By all means, there is nothing wrong with enjoying a cup of Oprah Winfrey Chai Tea. Before making that purchase, compassionate people around the world should be asking if these charities would be better assisted by donating directly to The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy, Girls Inc., National CARES Mentoring Movement, Pathways to College, and U.S. Dream Academy.
