I recently had the pleasure of watching a film called Final Five. It’s a horror film about the zombie apocalypse, but also has something that only a select few films have. It’s a one-take film, meaning it has no cuts.
Whether the film actually has no cuts is a secret only the actors and filmmakers know. If it does have any cuts in it, I’m not sure where they were.
The film kept my attention from beginning to end (it has a running time of a little less than 40 minutes). The writing was excellent. It didn’t give me any more or less than exactly what I needed to know. The film is an independent film, so there are some things that could have been better had a studio backed it such as graphics, casting (specifically one actress), and maybe even making the film into a feature.
The one take aspect of the film really keeps you drawn in, not disrupting your train of thought by bouncing around the place looking at different things. The film really flows. On the film’s IMDB page, under the trivia it says that the writers got inspiration from Silent House (a one take film starring Elizabeth Olsen) and The Walking Dead. I can definitely see the inspiration from Silent House and a little from The Walking Dead if you count just adding zombies into the film.
All in all, I’m glad I took the nearly 40 minutes out to watch the film and I would definitely suggest the film to others. It’s up on Vimeo still right now, so watch it while you can. The film has been picked up by a new online distributor, Difion.com. Not sure when the film is set to premiere on that website. So watch it for free now while you can!
