Increasing numbers of American businesses are becoming environmentally responsible, by following the green light. Office depot is the latest retailer to come on board. They are introducing an unprecedented collection of environmentally preferable green office supplies called ‘Office Depot Green.’ Touted as the first retailer in the office-supplies industry to launch a dedicated line of green products.
Office Depot said it plans for the brand to include consistent and easy-to-identify packaging for customers. Supplies such as file folders, notebooks, recycled paper, non toxic cleaners re-manufactured ink and toner cartridges, and compact fluorescent light bulbs will all be part of the green line. Office Depot Green products will be available online, as well as sold at more than 1,200 stores nationwide.
Office depot surveyed 2,500 business professionals, and found that half of them were interested in having their offices go green but the expense, and proper understanding of green living deter them. According to Yalma Siddqui, Office Depot’s Director of Environmental Strategy, small beginnings will help businesses go green without feeling overwhelmed.
He suggests small changes such as turning out a light each time you leave a room, or recycling a few items at a time., to start green living. Suddiqui says adding a few changes over a period of time will work best. Office Max lists 20 ways to live life in the green.
