Becky was only in high school when she saw her cousin drop dead in front of her steps. Jay was just hanging out smoking a cigarette. It was unexpected for the killer to make a move in broad daylight. Twenty five year old Jay was aware of the killer; however, he didn’t expect himself to be the victim. Ladies and gentleman, this is a true story of a twenty five year old dying from a heart attack. So if you think this can’t happen to you because “you’re young”, think again.
You may be aware that the number one killer in America is heart disease. Yet, are are you taking this killer seriously or you don’t think this will happen to you?
Do you realize that your heart is a muscular organ that never sleeps? It is still up working while you’re sleeping. Your heart is a muscle that pumps blood. Your blood flows through arteries or “straws“. Blood supplies nutrients, oxygen and other necessities throughout the body. So guess what will happen once these “straws” are clogged up? You guessed right! It will be hard for the blood to flow in your body. As a result, your body may suffer from some of these symptoms which may be a signal for a heart attack:
- Chest pain
- You’re more tired than usual (which makes sense since your nutrient and oxygen supply is cut short)
- Can’t breathe normally (which makes even more sense since your oxygen supply is limited)
LDL, which I call “lousy cholesterol” can clog up your arteries. Ways that increases your LDL include:
- Foods with trans-fat and saturated fat
Therefore, it’s important for you to increase your HDL (healthy cholesterol) levels by:
- Consuming more foods that have unsaturated fat
- Exercising (which also burns the stress hormones)
- Being able to relax
- Taking an Omega-3 supplement
According to the CDC (Center of Disease Control and Prevention), heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Therefore, it is important that you start taking care of your heart today!
