After seeing the trending news update about the Gameboy’s 25th birthday on Facebook, I knew I needed to share my thoughts! I spent most of my childhood playing the Gameboy and then the Gameboy Advance, mostly Pokemon games. All of those times worrying about saving my game before the batteries died. Now, twenty-five years, battery-operated video games are almost obsolete.
It’s hard to believe Gameboy has been around for twenty-five years-only four years longer than me. I’ve seen the transition from Gameboy to Gameboy Color, then to Gameboy Advance and Gameboy Advance SP, but I don’t remember the Gameboy Micro, which I just found out about.
After I bought a Nintendo 3DS so I could play Pokemon X and Y, I started to wish I had not sold my Gameboy Advance and games at a garage sale so many years ago. The old happy and excited feelings rushed back as I remembered playing Pokemon Yellow and later versions on my Gameboy Advance.
I secretly hope Nintendo will reboot the Gameboy franchise and remake the old games.
