The world has evolved to more and more people looking to work from home. This has opened the door for more and more people to become interested in affiliate marketing. From my experience and the things I did wrong as a start-up marketer I have decided to share with you 5 of the best tips to help you jump start your efforts.
1. Don’t Be Afraid to be Different
The trend is to promote whatever is hot on the market. The problem with this is the marketing industry is going to be saturated with that product and the odds of your content or marketing efforts can easily get lost in the shuffle. When you step out on a limb and find a product that is still needed but less talked about it can eliminate the need for you to compete with other buyers to find traffic.
2. Do Your Homework
Make sure the product you are trying to offer has a support system. It can be hard to learn how to promote a product and service when you first start out but it is still going to be easier than trying to go at the whole process alone. This makes doing your homework even more important. Check to see if the business is offering you banners, a website, sample content, and images.
3. Affiliate Resources
Articles for Directories
Banners for a Website
Promotion for Adwords
Samples for Possible E-books
Images of the Product you are trying to sell
4. Keep Track of Your Websites
All the effort in the world is void if you don’t take the time to track the results of your marketing efforts. This will help you do the trial and errors necessary to create the perfect campaigns for your products. Some of the changes can be as simple as a few word changes to your content. Be sure and pay attention to where the traffic is being generated from, the pages that are gathering their attention, and how often they return. There are endless list of tracking software’s to choose from, but remember to be conscious of your budget. The best thing for a start-up budget is free. I recommend the tracking software Google Analytics and it has proven to be perfect for tracking needs.
5. Decide Whether You Want Reoccurring or a Passive Income
There are different models of payment for affiliate marketers. Some receive a certain percentage of their overall sales while others receive an ongoing percentage of the re-occurring sales of a product. Here are a few examples, let’s look at direct sales of a product. If you sale a product you get one time percentage cut from that sale. If you are selling a service that comes with a membership then the income you get would be re-occurring for each month that the member renews their membership.
As I have stated several times affiliate marketing is a great source of additional or full-time income. If you follow the five tips I have shared with you in this article you can create not only a business but an enterprise.
Remember that although it is done from home, affiliate marketing is still a business and requires the attention of one. Don’t be discouraged by the lack of instant fame and riches. Also be leery of the programs that promise you the best without any effort.
