March Madness is crazy but it’s also one of the most fun things you can do in the year. Competing with your friends for bragging rights or sometimes a little bit of cash. Even though filling out a perfect bracket is almost impossible, I’m going to tell you 5 lessons I’ve learned about making picks.
The first lesson that I learned: It’s pretty obvious but, the higher seed doesn’t always win. It’s amazing to see some of the upsets that happen that leave you sitting there after watching the game and thinking, wow. It’s also amazing to see how many people actually do only pick the higher seeds to win. Not a very good outcome on that bracket.
The second lesson I have learned: Your favorite team isn’t invincible. Your team has to lose too and even I have issues with putting my favorite team out of the tournament. No matter how much I want my favorite team to win it all, sometimes I face the fact that it just won’t happen most likely.
The third lesson I’ve learned: There is ALWAYS a bracket buster. People that just decide to pick them because it is their favorite team love picking these because it can make other people look stupid. Florida Gulf Coast is a great example from last year. Not many people picked Florida Gulf Coast to go as far as they did but those that did had a good time with it!
The fourth lesson I’ve learned: Sometimes not doing any analysis on a few of the games and just flipping a coin works amazing. If you can’t decide who you think is going to win sometimes just throwing out a team works and it looks like you know what you’re doing!
The fifth lesson I’ve learned: Don’t over think your picks. Getting a perfect bracket is difficult enough, so making a few wrong picks can still keep you in good shape to beat your friends or some challenge that you’re participating in online.
These are the 5 lessons I’ve learned while filling out a bracket. Hope you enjoyed!
