Want to cut your cold in half or even prevent having one as often? There are lots of natural things you can try. Here are a few of my favorites.
Some doctors recommended pineapple as being just as effective as cough syrup. I give this to my daughter when she’s sick, and it does have some effect. Plus it taste great.
Zinc is great for a cold and it has worked for me on several occasions. Webmd reports, ” Zinc lozenges or syrup can cut the time a common cold lasts in healthy people, if they take it within 24 hours of feeling sick, says a recent report from the Cochrane Collaboration, a nonprofit group that publishes reviews of health research.”
Honey is one of my favorite natural remedies because it taste great. I like to put it in green tea and add ginger and lemon. This is a natural remedy for a sore throat and cough. It soothes your throat and helps relieve the burning sensation. Honey is a natural antibiotic and can help with viruses.
Echinacea is a natural remedy also. It is thought to cut a cold, but it has mixed results. Webmd reports ” tudies of echinacea for the common cold have had mixed results. Extracts of echinacea do seem to have an effect on the immune system. Studies have shown that it increases the number of white blood cells and boosts the activity of other immune cells.”
I love vitamin C for a cold because it really works. If you take it everyday it will give your immune system a boost, and prevent a cold. I have take vitamin C for months now, and haven’t been sick. Its a great supplement and/or vitamin.
