Monday, April 7, 2014 was the first day of the expo hall for NAB Show 2014. This yearly event is held at the Las Vegas Convention Center along Paradise Road. Some of the highlights are as followed:
Wohler Technologies based out of the UK with an office in the San Francisco, California Bay Area (Hayward by Oakland), discussed their collaboration with Cinnefilm in regard with the release of software called Tachyon Wormhole which allows an automated file-based retiming solution of video editing for video itself, audio, and captioning. This specialized editing is said to save time and money in the long run. This efficient form of editing in real time will help keep all video feed in order and look as if it’s all sync to start even when parts were originally overlapped.
Another presentation discussed the program called, “Got Your 6” where Chris Marvin who runs the program helps use resources with the entertainment industry and military veterans. A former fighter pilot of the Canadian Air Force, Robert “Scratch” Mitchell discussed his experience with adapting to civilian life after his 20 years in the military in which he helps with authenticity and safety of actors and film crew when it comes to operating jets for television shows/movies and films. The key matter is helping military veterans have use for training and consulting on film sets and how important there is that all persons learn about safety to prevent accidents while filming. Many military veterans have had a difficult time adjusting to life after their service and this non-profit based talk was sponsored by B and H. Many veterans have been giving a “normal” life after they’ve been in the military no matter where as they work with film crews and actors for television and film.
