Mr. Peabody and Sherman takes us on a time-traveling adventure with the title characters of Mr. Peabody a dog, voiced by Ty Burrell and his adopted son, Sherman. Throughout the movie, Mr. Peabody and Sherman visit Ancient Egypt and King Tut, the Renaissance period and Leonardo da Vinci, then the Trojan War and King Agamemnon, finally coming back home in the WABAC, the time-traveling craft.
But this adventure isn’t a smooth one as Penny, a girl who bullies Sherman at school takes the WABAC with Sherman and they end up in Ancient Egypt as Penny becomes engaged to King Tut. Throughout the movie, Penny and Sherman understand that in order to get back home they need to work together and set aside their differences.
As a family movie, this is fantastic. There are of course jokes for the kids and jokes for the adults, but since this is a children’s animated movie, most of the jokes are puns, but not trite puns.
This is a movie I would recommend to anyone, especially families because most people probably remember Mr. Peabody and Sherman from Rocky and Bullwinkle and the children are going to find this animated movie great.
I give this movie a 3.5 out of 5.
