Review: We had an opportunity to watch “Turbo” at a discounted price when it first came out at the theater. However, because of other commitments, we weren’t able to and didn’t get around to watching it until it became available at Netflix. After finally getting around to watching the movie this past weekend, I have to say it was worth the wait.
To be fair, the movie probably could have been a little better. The overall plot was kind of predictable and, as a result, the ending wasn’t anything that was too much of a surprise. It also didn’t help that many of the plot details were revealed in the previews we had seen prior to actually watching the film. Our oldest daughter, who had never seen the film before, could tell us what was going to happen next. There were also quite a few scenes in this movie that reminded me a bit too much of the film “Cars.”
However, despite the fact the movie was predictable, it was also pretty enjoyable. Some of the scenes were pretty funny and, unlike some other children’s movies we’ve seen, the comedy was kept clean. There wasn’t anything that made me think twice about letting my daughters watch it.
I personally loved the early scenes in that vegetable garden and the way the snails had “jobs” while picking tomatoes and avoiding birds during safety meetings. I was actually laughing pretty hard at times and that doesn’t happen that often when I watch children’s movies.
Final Opinion: As I said before, the movie is pretty predictable and you’ll probably be able to figure out how it ends without any difficulty. However, the film is still worth taking the time to watch with your kids if you haven’t seen it already.
My Grade: B
