My first article on anti-aging should be read before this one, because the main tips are already mentioned in that one. Briefly, the best tips for anti-aging are to not drink alcohol on a regular basis, but maybe a few times a year at special events such as a wedding. The second tip was not to smoke. Other tips included following the Mediterranean diet, limiting red meat consumption, maintaining a low weight, eating garlic, getting exercise daily, practicing Mindfulness Meditation, going mentally to a safe place to reduce stress and grounding in nature. So, those are the basic tips for anti-aging, but there are more.
It is a good idea to get enough sleep, because your body is repairing itself during sleep. Some people think that they can get by on less sleep, but sleep deprivation can have serious consequences such as causing delusions and hallucinations. It is also a good idea to go to sleep a few hours after dark, and get up when it gets light outside. Obviously if it is winter, and it gets dark ay 3:00 p.m. where you live, you are not going to go to bed really early, but staying in touch with the natural cycles is better for your health.
When you are under continuous stress your body responds by releasing cortisol from the adrenal glands, which activates your body to a response that is designed to be life preserving if you were in danger, but which is life threatening if it is continuous. There are many ways to reduce stress and it is a good idea to be mindful of what reduces stress. Laughter is high on the list. Watching funny T.V. shows and movies releases chemicals that are antidotes to cortisol. Relaxing reduces stress. The classic method is a lengthy bubble bath with candles and soft music. Some herbal teas reduce stress. Earl Grey is a classic: it combines black tea with soothing bergamot oil. Getting out in nature reduces stress. Taking a vacation reduces stress. Taking up a practice like Tai Chi or Yoga will reduce your stress.
The classic guided visualization is to sit in a chair and close your eyes, and imagine a bright star above your head that is pouring white light and warmth into your body as if it were hollow. Imagine the light and warmth first filling your head, and then flowing down through your torso into your legs and down through the earth.
Nothing makes a person feel old more than wrinkled skin on the face. It is beneficial to have a lifetime regime of cleansing, toning and moisturizing, and protecting the face from too much sunlight. Diet also effects the appearance of facial skin. The best treatment is to drink a glass of lemon water every morning, and to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables that are high in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Smoothies and juices are a good idea.
