What can we eat: https://www.womenshealth.com ,
Most diets are all about what we cannot eat and very little talk about what we can eat. It is important to be flexible in what we eat. New research shows that on a diet of 1000 to 1400 calories it is best to divide up the calories; however, eat six meals a day. Let’s say you are on a 1000 calorie diet to divide it up into three meals of 250 calories and three meals of 100 calories. This is just an example, it lets you be flexible to work out an eating schedule that best fits your needs. The important this is never being hungry.
Swap fat for muscle:
We need to try to eat two or three of: eggs, nuts, leafy greens, vegetables, berries, lean meat, fish, beans, peanut butter, and oatmeal. For snacks we should eat at least one from these foods. Try to stay away from caned (or processed foods) try to eat fresh or frozen foods. Processed foods contain a lot of salt/sodium.
What can we drink:
People, men and women, who drink 17 ounces of water, increase their metabolic rate by 30 percent in 10 minutes and it will peak over 40 minute. The National Academy of Sciences reported that most women need 88 ounces of fluid a day. This in not all water, it can be any clear fluid. Check the label to make sure it has no calories. There is a very good drink out now that is called “Ice.” It contains no calories and has a good amount of vitamins and minerals our bodies need.
The reason why we should not drink alcohol:
Alcohol can in fact be more harmful to losing weight than anything else. What alcohol does is inhibit the production of hormones that help us burn fat and build muscle.
In a University of Tennessee research they found people who were dieting who ate between 1200 and 1300 mg of calcium a day lost almost two times as much weight as people who consumed less.
Fats that are healthy:
There are some fats such as: olives, nuts, seeds, avocados, and dark chocolate that are healthy for us. The oils we should cook with are: olive, canola, safflower, flaxseed and sunflower only to name a few. Remember the important thing is to be flexible and enjoy a “treat” once in a while.
