Motley costumes of feathers and fabric ruffles
And masks to hide the faces of the players
They dance, they sing, jump, whirl, a delight
To the eyes in a pink, blue, yellow, purple
Spectacle of grand chorus and ballet.
Each step planned and plotted, a chicken costume
Affords the silliness of snatching a sparkling wand.
Is it meant to be a mirror or a sparkler?
Who’s to know, but the menagerie goes on
With a pirouette by the whole troupe
Then twirls and swirls, flashing colors
Arms framing faces, pointing, hide and seek,
Thrilling the senses, enlivening the heart, enriching life.
