Dead skin cells, clogged pores and dirt make your face look less than its best, but who’s got money for expensive skin treatments? Make your own DIY facial peels instead, and get better skin without a big expense.
Facial Peel Recipes
Before using any facial peel, steam your skin for a few minutes to open your pores. Open pores will make any peel more effective, but your skin may also be more sensitive. Apply your DIY peel carefully, wiping it onto skin in slow, upward circular motions.
Egg white peel: You don’t need any other ingredients to make an egg white peel. Separate two eggs in a bowl and whisk them thoroughly. Now apply the egg directly to your skin. Place a thin layer of tissue over the mask, and apply another layer of egg whites. Allow all this to dry for about 20 minutes before you peel the eggs off your skin.
Refreshing peel: Chop up 1/2 cup of cucumber and remove the skin and seeds. Use a fork to mash what remains into a pulp. Add this to one egg white and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Mix this thoroughly and apply it directly to your face. Let the facial peel sit for 5 minutes before washing it away with warm water. This peel helps cleans and perk up the skin to make blemishes and fine lines less noticeable.
Baking soda peel: Pour two tablespoons of ordinary baking soda into your hand. Add enough lemon juice to get the mixture to a paste-like consistency. Now rub it on your skin. Allow it to sit until it becomes thoroughly dry. Wash it away with warm water. The gritty texture of the baking soda helps to exfoliate the skin and soaks up excess oil. The acidic qualities of the lemon juice kill bacteria.
Tomato peel: Put half of a tomato and the juice of one lime into your blender and mix well. Smear it onto your skin in a thin layer and let it sit for about 15 minutes. You may notice a tingling sensation. Once the facial peel has dried, splash water on your face to rinse it off. Apply moisturizer.
Lemon honey peel: Mix 1 tablespoon of warm honey with 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to form a foamy paste, and wipe it onto your face. The honey moisturizes skin, while lemon juice uses acidic properties to remove oils. Leave it on for about 20 minutes. Gently, slowly peel excess honey off skin using a warm towel and then thoroughly rinse your face.
