As a seller of used clothes on and off for years, I can say that it’s one of the easiest and most lucrative ways of making money from home. Clothing is something that everyone needs and there’s always something for everyone. You don’t have to come up with a unique item to sell, you can find them right in your closet. Here are a few tips I’ve learned for successful selling.
1. Go local. Selling in your community is one of the best ways to sell your clothes for cash. If you live in a small town, you have the benefit of local friends and family buying your stuff. If you live in a big city, you have numbers on your side. You can do this by putting up garage sales or attending flea markets. This is a great way to get exposure and you can get rid of the majority of your stock within hours.
2. Avoid online selling. The easiest way to try to get rid of your old clothes is to hop online, take some pictures and watch the money roll in. It’s quick, it’s fun and you might not have to go anywhere except for the post office. The reality is that shipping costs, lots of competition and selling fees can easily get in the way. Think about it, you have shipping costs and selling fees for each item you sell online. Also, you may never get the amount of exposure online while competing with the hundreds and thousands of merchandise online.
3. Sell low. When selling clothes, what will attract customers is your price. Price is what the small retailer has to compete with. So, use it. When I sold clothes at a local flea market, I sold each piece for only one dollar. My inventory went in less than a few hours. I collected my cash and was ready to go.
