JAM: Hi its a real pleasure to have you all here today
Trish: Oh its no problem we haven’t got a busy schedule at the moment
JAM: I take it you’re not on tour then?
Rachel: No not at the moment but we are set to go on tour in Ireland this summer the group haven’t been since the mid 1990’s so this will be my first time over there. The venues over there should be perfect for our type of concerts as their bars and pubs have nice atmospheres and should provide us with a lively bunch of people coming to see us.
Trish: When we last went over we were slightly disappointed as there wasn’t a great interest and we some rowdy pubs and others were in small isolated villages which noise was cut off after about 9pm. Hopefully things will turn out better this time around.
JAM: Hopefully they will. So are you returning to the UK after that?
Trish: Yeah we are coming back to Leeds in October to do a gig and we are back in Leeds again for our traditional Christmas Eve concert at the Oaktree Club on December 24th. Our management are also considering releasing a compilation album at Christmas of some of the groups best hits.
JAM: Are you planning to release any new material?
Trish: No… We can’t really as we aren’t The Maggs and Trish Group in one sense we are just continuing the legacy. We could ask to do a live album that could be possible but we would have to see as we don’t have Maggs in the group anymore so we have Rachel covering the 50p rap and Maggs replacement Katelyne doing Put Some Washing In. I took over Rose Garden so we have all shared out her songs between us.
JAM: Katelyne you’ve been quite how are you settling in the group?
Katelyne: Not too bad it has been difficult at times as the group isn’t quite the same but we still do all the old songs so the audience hasn’t been critical of me it has added a new repertoire to the music.
JAM: How long do you plan to go on like this for?
Trish: For as long as we feel we want to do this we don’t do many concerts as we all do solo work, Katelyne doesn’t join us much as she unable to come to Ireland this year but we will keep going as long as we can.
Rachel: Yeah the same really I’m helping out in Ireland this year and there are three gigs in the UK after that so we have cut down as in 2012 and 2013 we had about 40 -50 concerts a year.
JAM: Have you considered a reunion?
Trish: No It wouldn’t be possible we don’t speak with Maggs anymore as we did fall out and haven’t really spoken since.
JAM: What about your old friend from the 90’s?
Trish: Lynda? No we would love to but she has moved on from the industry and we have lost contact with her over the years. Last I heard she was working with children and doing charity work.
Rachel: Yeah I’d love to perform with Lynda but its not going to be possible I think she is fostering people now but I have sang with her through archive videos last year for the 25th anniversary.
JAM: How are record sales going?
Trish: They are ok but they are declining as we haven’t released any new studio albums for a few years. We are getting a lot of interest on YouTube though as we now have thousands of views on videos.
JAM: So whats next for the group?
Trish: I think we will just keep touring and pleasing the fans we may reduce the amount of touring we do but we think we will always keep our traditional dates such as Christmas and New Year.
Rachel: We’re not ready to stop completely yet so we will keep going if Trish goes before me I will still keep the legacy alive.
Katelyne: The same really we might consider the live album and more compilation albums but we aren’t ready to stop yet.
JAM: Well thank you for your time
