On April 4-5th, 2014 Lucky Magazine presented its Fashion and Beauty Blogger (FABB) Conference at the SLS Hotel. Presented by P & G Grooming and Beauty this was the 3rd year of its FABB Conference in Los Angeles.
The two-day event brought together the top influencers in fashion, beauty and technology. Technology is now a part of fashion and beauty and Lucky FABB kicked off the event with its Next Level Tech panel, analyzing new platforms and plug-ins to help content stand out in the crowded information on the web.
Keynote speakers included Eva Chen (Lucky Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief), Sophia Amoruso, Nicole Richie, Coco Rocha and January Jones.
The smart and charming Eva Chen sat down with Nicole Richie to discuss her personal style. Richie shared that as a kid her style was influenced by Punky Brewster. At the age of 11 she wanted to wax her eyebrows because she had a unibrow. She decided to shave her brows in the shower with no mirror thinking that it would be simple, if she shaved down the bridge of her nose. Unfortunately, that was not what happened and she shaved off half her brow. When asked by her mom what happened to her brows she responded, “They fell off!” The crowd fell out with laughter because we could all relate to something ridiculous we did as kids.
Richie’s style inspiration is her mom and she has an affinity for vintage costume jewelry, which is the influence for her House of Harlow jewelry line. Richie’s advice for bloggers when building their brand is to understand the importance of how you introduce yourself to the world, understand that it will be non-stop living and breathing life into your new business, find new and creative ways to express yourself and finally be authentic.
Richie stated that she no longer worries about trying to do it all. The realistic approach is to do what you can do and not let the pressure of someone else’s expectations set you up for failure. She is inspired by her garden which by the description that she gave is a variety of fruits, vegetables and flowers.
Richie enjoys mixing brands because no one expects people to wear one designer from head to toe. Richie wore: Givenchy jacket, J Brand leggings, Manolo Blahnik shoes and a House of Harlow necklace.
When asked what being a leader means to her, Richie responded, “Being a leader means supporting and being supportive of other women.”
Actress January Jones wearing a Schumacher dress and Gianvito Rossi shoes along with Violet Grey’s Cassandra Grey led a panel on “The New Look of Digital.” The afternoon agenda featured supermodel and philanthropist Karolina Kurkova, and celebrity stylist Heidi Bivens, among others.

Day 1 concluded with a conversation between Eva Chen and Coco Rocha, one of today’s most digitally savvy supermodels. Rocha is on the Board of Directors of The Model Alliance. The Model Alliance (MA) is a nonprofit labor group for models working in the American fashion industry. Their mission is to ensure that models have an industry voice through the MA and that models, especially child models are protected on set when at work.
The brunch on Day 2 provided bloggers with the opportunity to network, share information and hear from several brands in an intimate setting. Lucky Magazine’s Fashion and Beauty Blogger Conference is considered the premiere event to attend among the fashion and beauty blogger community.
