Working and living in southern NH for over 20 years I’m thrilled to say that we’ve got some pretty amazing restaurants, bars, and just plain fun places to go. These are five of my favorites for a glass of wine, appetizers, live music and even a chance to be creative. Stop by if you’re in Nashua or Manchester, NH.
MT’s Local Kitchen and Wine Bar – Previosuly known as Michael Timothy’s, this was a favorite of mine for a special night out. Now it’s perfect for a business lunch, or a relaxing afternoon, sitting outdoors enjoying the bustle of downtown Nashua. Check out their special wine menu.
Many locally sourced meats, vegetables, and dairy products are featured in the daily chalkboard special menu. Don’t miss out.
Stella Blu – Just around the corner from MT’s, Stella Blu offers a glass of wine and “American Tapas.” They draw from a range of ethnic foods including American, Italian, Latin, Asian and the local Farmer’s Market, and also offer a variety of specialty martinis. Gluten-free options on the menu, and live music Friday and Saturday! This is a small place and they fill up quickly, but definitely give them a try!
Napa East – Napa East considers itself “rustic with a hint of Vegas.” If you’re surprised to hear that and “southern NH” in the same sentence, you’ll be doubly surprised to learn they also offer over 100 bottles of wine “on tap”, and a sommelier to help you make your wine decision. Napa East was named both Best Wine Bar and Best New Restaurant by Hippo Magazine’s readers.
Taste something you like? Visit the wine shop at Napa East Tuesday through Saturday to buy wine to enjoy at home.
Art with a Splash – Art With a Splash is following the trend of painting classes for groups, but adds a twist. At those others, you’re offered a taste of wine with fruit, cheese and maybe some crackers. At Art with a Splash, you select a painting from their calendar, get your friends signed up and bring your own preferred beverage. It could be the perfect date night or a great evening with friends.
A perfect opportunity to have fun with your kids, too. Since you bring your own beverage, you can book a kids party and share the fun of painting with your children.
Unwined – Just a bit further north, in Manchester, you’ll find Unwined. A relaxing spot to sit with friends and enjoy a wide variety of wine and other beverages while enjoying small plates, salads, bar bites, or their prix fixe menus. Unwined is a place where you will not be rushed. Just a flower in the vase signals the waiter when you need something.
Try their chocolate fondue for one! If you’re with a group, I guarantee there’ll be someone else wanting to order another!
