The Arcata Plaza is often known for its many events and festivals it holds all year long as well as the bars that line the north side of the Plaza, but located around the Plaza are a number of wine bars for the more discerning drinker. Stop in at any of the wine bars located in Arcata for brunch with friends or a romantic couples dinner and you will not be left disappointed.
Parking is available on or around the plaza, and all of these wine bars are within walking distance.
Located at 761 8th Street, directly on the Plaza, Libation offers a wide selection of wine for drinking as well as purchase, including a monthly wine club. Sip your favorite, or try something new with an excellent view of the Arcata Plaza.
A variety of entertainment is often offered. You can check their website to see who will be playing at Libation, as well as any other events that are being put on. Noteworthy is Libation’s participation in Arts Arcata, an event that falls on the second Friday of the month, where many of the business located on and around the plaza showcase local artisans and musicians.
Libation also hosts a series of wine tasting courses to help drinkers better appreciate and understand the finer aspects of wine.
Robert Goodman Wines
Located at 937 10th Street, two blocks away from the Arcata Plaza, Robert Goodman Wines feels like you’re own personal wine bar. They boast a selection of their own locally made wine in a intimate location, perfect for couples or small groups.
As well as a selection of wine, Robert Goodman’s offers a number of tantalizing mixed drinks(I recommend the corpse reviver #3) as well as dinner every night and brunch on the weekends.
Music is also provided many nights, including Salsa Nights on Wednesday with a 5 dollar cover.
Located at 1101 H. Street, Crush sports a flirty name for Arcata’s newest wine bar. Crush offers a selection of more than 30 wine selections as well as a menu that works closely with the local community to provide tantalizing dishes from locally found products. A variety of seasonal specials are available as well, but you’ll have to stop in to find out what those are. Lunch and dinner are available every weeknight and stop in on the weekends for brunch.
Crush also hosts art from local artisans. You can see the current feature on their website here under Artists & Musicians.
