Memphis, Tennessee is full of delicious chain restaurants. But there are some restaurants that were created in and exclusive to Memphis.
1.) Garibaldi’s Pizza was founded in 1975 and now has 3 Memphis locations. Two of them (the Walker Avenue and Germantown locations) are for carry-out, delivery, and dine in customers while the location on Yates is for dine-in and delivery only. Garibaldi’s is more than just pizza. They have an excellent array of salads, sub sandwiches (hot and cold), pastas, and desserts. For locations and menu, visit http://www.garibaldispizza.com.
2.) Panchos is a favorite Mexican restaurant of lots of Memphians. The first restaurant opened in 1956 in West Memphis, Arkansas and they now have 3 locations. The West Memphis location and the Memphis location on White Station and Summer are full-service (Dine-In and Take Out). The Memphis location on South Perkins is “fast food” and has a drive-thru. Panchos has a “typical” Mexican menu with tacos, quesadillas, etc. They also have some menu items you don’t see at every other Mexican restaurant such as Shrimp Veracruz (which is a bowl of rice covered with their famous cheese dip and huge shrimp) and a pineapple quesadilla, which has cheese and pineapple. I’m not even a huge fan of pineapple and I think the quesadilla is amazing!! They have cold beer and delicious margaritas, along with other cocktails, soft drinks, and tea. But what Panchos is really known for is their yummy yellow cheese dip. It is unlike any order of cheese dip you have had before. They actually sell it in grocery stores across the country! They also have this green sauce that is yummy and sold in stores as well (along with their white cheese dip and salsa). The first serving of their yellow cheese dip is even free at their restaurants! For more info on Panchos, feel free to visit them at http://www.panchoscheesedip.com
3.) Huey’s has several Memphis area location. It is a place Memphians go when they want a delicious burger in a fun atmosphere. Huey’s is the kind of restaurant where you shoot toothpicks in the ceiling and draw on the walls and booths (yes, really!) but the food is still some of the best you’ve ever had. They have awesome fried pickles, nachos, and cheese fries if you’re in the mood for an appetizer. They have steak kabobs, chicken, salads, and all sorts of food for every appetite and diet. But what they are REALLY known for is their burger. They have several types and toppings to choose from but no matter what, you will not be disappointed in your choice. The burgers always come out warm and cooked to your liking. If you want, you can choose from fries or onion rings (the onion rings are delicious and HUGE) or just have a burger by itself. They have a full bar as well so you can have a beer or cocktail with your meal. Huey’s is a family friendly place and the kids always get a kick of being allowed to draw on the wall for a change! Some nights they have live music. For locations, merchandise, and their menu: Www.Hueyburger.com
