Dallas is all about choice and that’s particularly true when it comes to day spas. Here are four different ways to get your beauty fix and reduce the stress of daily living.
- Halcyon Days Salon & Spa at Neiman Marcus – (NorthPark Center, 8767 N. Central Expressway #400, Dallas, 75225; 214-346-0731; Hours: M-F 10-9, Sat 10-8, Sun 12-6) Neiman Marcus is Dallas born and bred. NorthPark is my favorite mall in the world. So it’s no wonder that Halcynon is my very favorite. Since spa days are all about overindulgence, valet-park outside Neiman’s, enjoy a stroll through the store, and enter heaven. The feel is posh and they provide services from head to toe. The price tag is a little challenging to my pocketbook, but by the time they’re through with me, I don’t care what it costs.
- Elizabeth Arden Red Door – (The Shops at Willow Bend 6121 W. Park Boulevard, Plano 75093; 469-366-0132; Hours M-T 9-7, W-Th 9-9, F-Sat 8-7, Sun 9-6) Just a few weeks back, my best friend and I shared a half-day splurge here; the emphasis being on splurge – it cost the moon. Massages, pedicures, hair and make-up were what we had, but they offer a full slate of services. The day spa is tucked away in a corner of the mall with direct access from the parking lot, so no need to traipse through the mall.
- Serenity Spa and Salon – (3305 North Dallas Parkway #389, Plano, 75093; 972-378-5551; Hours: M-F 10AM – 7PM, Sat 9AM – 6PM, Sun – Closed) The name “Serenity” is a little deceiving. The day spa is in a busy strip center right next to a major thoroughfare. I never feel serene when I get there, but Jong Kim fixes that. Though I may splurge on some services at more well-known spas, when I want a good facial, I go see Kim. Serenity offers a full range of services and prices are more approachable than the luxury options above.
- Mapleshade Spa – (6432 Mapleshade Lane, Dallas, 75252; 972-312-0670; Hours: TWF 10-7, Th 9-7, Sat 9-6, Sun – Closed) This day spa is a complete departure from the others. Set among huge trees in what used to be a two-story house and removed from any major thoroughfare or mall, this spa is more like something you’d expect to experience in a small town. Their prices are reasonable and the services I’ve had are just as effective, if not as indulgent, as I’ve had at the other day spas I’ve mentioned.
