I am a true sea food lover! I wouldn’t say fish, but sea food. Some of my favorites include shrimp, scallops, and lobster! Luckily, I live in New England, which is home to some of the best sea food around. Recently, I had a craving for some good sea food, so I thought, why not try Legal Sea Foods?
Normally, I would not review a “chain” restaurant and would stick to the tiny, local restaurants, but why not give a “chain” a chance? It was a Saturday night, and the restaurant was packed. This surprised me when I looked at the menu and saw how pricey it was. I know sea food is inherently expensive, but the prices seemed to be higher than average to me. Two people can easily spend well over a hundred dollars on dinner here. But I digress. Upon arriving I was greeted very nicely and brought right in to my table (luckily I went on Open Table and made a reservation as soon as I decided this was the place). I would definitely recommend making a reservation.
Upon being seated, we were greeted by our waiter who took our drink order. I did have a few questions and was wondering if they had any specials. I was never told the specials by our waiter, but I did hear them being told to another table. It isn’t that our waiter was bad, per say, he was just lax. There were very long absences in between him coming to the table to check on us. Also, we waited a while for some fresh hot rolls. Don’t get me wrong they were fantastic when we got to eat them but again..it took a while. As I mentioned he never did tell us the specials but I did get to ask my questions, so that’s something!
I started my meal with a cup of lobster bisque. My friend got the clam chowder. Legal is “known” for their chowder so I had to try a bite. It was delicious and I could definitely see how it is a signature for the restaurant. The bisque was pretty amazing too, with fresh lumps of lobster, absolutely something I would get again.
It was a lobster kind of night and we both got lobster rolls for our main course. They were not on the dinner menu but as one of my questions for the waiter I asked if they were available…luckily they were. It was amazing and worth every penny. It was fresh and in a nicely grilled hot dog roll with homemade cole slaw and french fries. It was, in a word, perfect. Yes it is winter and lobster roll says summer but it can be summer all year with this delightful lobster foll at Legal Sea Foods.
I mentioned before that the menu is pricey and unfortunately it is not the kind of place you would go to just randomly go out to dinner. However, if you are celebrating a special occasion and want to splurge on dinner then I would say splurge on Legal Sea Foods.
