There is a lot to be had from having siblings. The following five examples are just a small bit of information I have learned from my siblings.
Differences don’t have to divide
Growing up with siblings has taught me that people have different preferences. What may be a crème de la crème breakfast option of crepes and scrumptious white mochas in the morning to one, may send another vituperating throughout the countryside looking for fresh strawberries and blueberries to consume for breakfast.
Some things will forever be novel
Remember that one time your uncle fell off the chair at the Christmas party, or when your great aunt used crass language that typically isn’t used by a woman at the age of 80? The great thing about having siblings is the ability to have solidarity and understanding of those who have experienced the same events as you. Yeah, sometimes holiday parties can seem like the utter epitome of monotony, with distant relatives trying to bridge the gap between their personal opinions and biddings into what is reality, but they aren’t so bad. Looking back into time with the ability to savor those unfavorable and sour moments with siblings over a glass of wine is infallible and completely regal and wonderful.
Share in the success of others
Unless you are a sullen person incapable of holding respect and gratitude towards others, you will be able to enjoy the success and accomplishments of your siblings. The feeling of being genuinely proud of a sibling is truly a euphoric sensation. It makes the putrid feel of getting a failing mark on an arithmetic exam less lethal when your brother gets a 4.0 on his marks for the year. There is no need for jealously when it comes to a loved one doing good things in a respectable and mannerly way.
Learn to be patient
Growing up with siblings will definitely show one how to be patient, especially during those trials when a younger brother or sister is throwing a tantrum full of melodramatics. Even when you are on the verge of tears from your sibling requesting to dye their hair for the umpteenth time that month, a positive lesson will be had going forward if you are able to avoid getting too upset or distraught over their bellyaching.
Interacting with the minds of others
Most, if not all people that you meet will have a piece of information that is new and insightful to your life. Being able to daily share the information obtained with your siblings is a sure fire way to not only interact with another human being in a positive way, but also engage the mind in creative and critical thinking.
