It’s that busy time of the year again with the wedding and graduation season right around the corner. Sometimes it is hard to come up with different ideas for gifts especially when you have so many different events to attend. Here are a few graduation gift ideas to help with this hectic and happy time of year. Whether the person you know is graduating from high school or college, there are a few last minute gifts that are appreciated and needed by all grads.
Money. So this isn’t a gift that requires much thought, but let me tell you it is much appreciated. If this is a high school graduate, this will help them get on their feet in their first year as a functioning adult out of high school. If he or she is graduating from college, let’s face it, not everyone is blessed with a job right away. Plus, the bills and student loan debt that follows you after graduation is a huge burden. Review: money is great and everyone can use it.
Gift Cards. A gift card to Bed Bath & Beyond or similar is a great gift for any graduate especially when coming out of high school. If they are leaving for college or planning on renting their own apartment, they are going to need things to help make their new place feel like a home. Many stores such as Meijer, Kroger, or Kohl’s sell racks of gift cards for various places. These are great if you are on your way to the graduation party and need to pick up a gift. Almost any gas station or larger store is going to carry a variety of gift cards for your choosing. Review: gift cards will not go to waste and they allow the receiver to pick out things that they like that they may not have purchased with their own money.
Photo Gifts. If it is a close friend or family member you can run to your local pharmacy or retail store to print out an 8×10 photo collage of pictures with both of you in them. You can also make really nice canvas prints that they could hang in their new living space. Check out some ideas at Walgreens.com. At most of these stores you can upload your pictures right from home or from your phone and pick up the gift shortly after. Photo gifts can be the most touching and memorable for any grad. If you are not that close to the grad or if it is your child’s friend, stop and pick up a graduation photo frame which can be found almost anywhere this time of the year. The gesture is still there, they can put any photo they would like in it, and you don’t have to spend too much money. Review: photo gifts are always cherished for years and years to come.
Care Packages. Who couldn’t use a care package at any stage in their lives? Well, going off to college or starting a new chapter in life can be difficult. To make the transition a little easier, put together a little care package for the grad. If you are short on time, go to the Dollar Tree and buy 20 products that you know the grad could use. Maybe it is toiletries, snacks, paper plates, candy, or other small goodies. If the grad is moving away, maybe a comfort basket would be nice. On days when they feel homesick or lonely, they will have a few of their favorite comfort foods/items that make them feel at home. Some nice items might be cookies, tea, a candle, magazines, a book, or a nice cozy blanket. Review: everyone can use one and they will think of you when they are having a rough day. This can be done on a tight budget.
Overall, grads are happy with their accomplishments and looking forward to the next chapter in their lives. They are happy you are there to celebrate with them with or without a gift. Any gift that you do give will be more than appreciated, it will be cherished forever.
