Did you know Mother’s Day is this weekend? Did you forget? Unfortunately, with busy schedules this is easy to do. However, don’t panic, there are always last minute gifts to save the day.
To save yourself buy a gift card to some place your mom will like to go. The great thing about gift cards is that they are pretty much sold anywhere. You can pick them up at the grocery store, major retail outlet and even at the local gas station. Gift cards may not have that personal touch but at least you will be able to give a gift.
Grab a bouquet of flowers or a potted plant. Cut flowers can usually be picked up anywhere; I have even seen them at local gas stations, convenience stores, grocery stores and major retail outlets. Potted plants are also found at grocery stores and major retail outlets. My mother personally likes potted plants. So she can transplant it outside afterwards which is another factor to think about when picking out the perfect plant.
A Cherished Photo
The great thing about digital technology, you can print off a photo at home or take one to a local retailer to have one made. Pick a photo that is memorable to you; one of just you and your mom or one of you and your siblings. Make certain that you pick up a frame as well.
Make a Gift Bag
When you are at the local grocery pick up a gift bag and fill the bag with items mom will love. For example, for the tea lover, buy some boxes of tea and new mug. Or make a gift bag of spa items such as bubble bath, hand lotion, fingernail polish and remover. Another idea is if you know your mom is going on a trip to visit one your siblings, fill the gift bag with travel sized items that she can take with her.
Purchase tickets to the newest Broadway production or symphony that is coming to town. Even if you do not have the tickets in hand on Mother’s Day, you can always write a quick note of what is to come.
My mom loves magazines; the print kind. So, in the past I have given her subscription to her favorite magazine. Or I once picked up a gift bag filled it with some new types of magazines that I knew she would never have bought for herself because the prices were too high. She loved it.
Whatever you decide, the effort is certain to please mom. Remember to pick up a greeting card as well. Or if you are running behind print one out on the computer.
