We should sign Jodie Meeks a 4 year deal. Jodie Meeks is young, 26, fast, versatile and intelligent. Meeks is the type of elite role player we need. He is in terrific shape. He is not flashy, but efficient. And he is all about the team.
Meeks is a very solid defender, and at 6’5 he is not too undersized to play shooting guard. I love the fact that Meeks understand that his great shooting skills do not dispense him from his imperative defensive responsibilities.
As shouting guard he displayed great spot up shooting abilities from 3 point land shooting a career high 40% beyond the arc. If that was not enough, this season he started put the ball on the floor and attack the basket much more. This season he has become a much more complete offensive player. This shows that Jodie Meeks worked in the off season to improve his game instead of “champaigning and campaigning” in Hollywood. This is the type of hard working player we need in our team.
All season long Jodie Meeks has been one of the most resourceful and consistent Lakers on the roster. He always gave 100% at both ends of the floor.
It helps that Jodie Meeks is a class individual that brings no unnecessary drama to himself and the team.
All in all, Lakers should sign Jodie Meeks for the next four years as a great back up shooting guard for the end of the Kobe era. Resigning him also would give us 2 of his prime years in the post Kobe era.
