Updating your look doesn’t have to cost a fortune. A few select pieces that are on trend are really the only things you need. Here are 5 easy ways to update your look while staying on a tight budget:
Palazzo Pants and Maxi Skirts
A hot look in ladies fashion at the moment are long flowing maxi skirts and palazzo pants. These ultra comfy pieces look great with a basic tank top or t-shirt. They come in all sorts of colors and wild designs, and will instantly update your summer wardrobe. These can be found for under $20.00 at Target, Walmart, and Kohl’s.
Large, loud, clunky necklaces (bibs) in bright colors are a super fun way to add some color to your summer attire. If you are bored with your plain jeans and tank tops, add a statement necklace and your look will instantly be updated. Most major department stores carry statement necklaces, and usually you can find good selections on clearance for under $20.00. Also, check out thrift stores as they often have HUGE jewelry selections for extremely low prices.
High Waist Shorts
A very popular pinterest style, high waist, or “mom” style cut off shorts are a very fun summer look. These are very easy to find at thrift stores for under $10. A fun thing to do with these is to sew or glue patches or rhinestones on them!
Sleeveless denim vests are another popular style that are usually worn over spaghetti strap maxi dresses and tank tops. They add a fun casual contrast to dressier styles and can be dressed up themselves by adding things such as brooches. The thrift store is another great place for this fashion find, and if you don’t have any luck finding an actual vest, purchase a denim jacket and cut off the sleeves (I usually find the little boys’ department at thrift stores a mecca for vintage denim jackets).
Straw Fedora Hats
I love hats! A timeless classic, they can add a unique fashion forward touch to any outfit. A popular style this season are straw fedora style hats. I found some really cute ones at Target for under $15.00. These can be customized by adding colorful silk scarves around the base to match your maxi dresses and skirts.
