Having been a personal trainer for some odd years I can tell you that gaining weight requires a lot of effort when it comes to extra eating and reduced amount of activity on your part that may inhibit you from leading life like how you are used to, or stop you from doing what you enjoy, but the positives outweigh the negatives for this situation, and gaining weight may provide you with a better physique, to help you gain muscle, or to let you join a certain weight class on a sports team.
The first step to gaining weight calls for an increase on your intake of food. To gain weight you must eat a lot. If you are used to eating two or three times a day, that has to be upped to four or five times. Eating more allows for more proteins and calories to place themselves within your system, thus allowing fat cells to grow. Also try your best to eat big portions of food. Don’t eat multiple times a day and have the meals be small, the meals must be big because it will decrease your metabolism, thus slowing down the reduction of fat.
The second step to gaining weight is to reduce physical activity. If your mission is to gain 10 pounds in a span of two months, you cannot engage in certain things such as sports, jobs that require heavy lifting or walking, any exercise whatsoever. If you do engage in such activities it will take what we have learned in step 1, which is to eat more, and make it completely void. Try your best to relax and eat if you are planning on gaining weight. Sit down and read a book or watch TV. This may seem boring but if it is truly your goal to gaining weight, you must understand that this is what has to be done.
The last step to gaining weight is planning and consistency. You cannot do step 1 and step 2 once or twice a day in the week. You must commit and become dedicated to gaining weight. Since you will be eating many times a day, planning is also a major factor. You have to plan the kinds of foods that you will be eating throughout the week, how many calories they are, what kinds of proteins they are and such. Doing this will maximize your weight gain.
