Did you know that based on your genetics you will have physical limitations? Have you noticed the curvaceous lady who constantly tugs and pulls at her clothes to cover her curves? The statuesque gal who refuses to lift heavy in the weight room because she doesn’t want to gain any “man muscle”? The stick-thin girl who is accused of having an eating disorder?
It will always be hard to hear but dreaming for the exact opposite body type is wishing for a heat wave in Alaska. What I mean is that the curvaceous gal should never reject her curves, the statuesque gal can lift heavy in the gym, and the stick-thin girl must hold her head up and ignore the crude comments.
So how is this possible? Why are other women so perfect and you view yourself as so flawed? What is all of the body shape gossip about? Why do women loathe displaying their body in a crowded room? Why do women fear standing in front of a crowd of people? The answer is the influence of the media who almost always favors ultra-thin women. Those stick-thin ladies are on television and magazines for a reason. The reason? Thinner bodies look better through a camera, on screens, and shown in print ads. So it’s time to pull your head out of dreamland and look in the mirror to discover your body type.
I am an ectomorph/mesomorph. I am 6’1″, German engineered, and have terrible hormone fluctuations. What does this mean? This means I pack muscle on like a man, I am VERY statuesque, it is very hard for me to pack on curves, and I will literally NEVER have a bigger bust. This is just the way I am, period. I used to love to hate myself. I got used to being called a boy, accused of having an eating disorder, I was too tall for everything, and I was even deemed “too statuesque” for modeling. I am not joking, that was a direct quote from a New York based modeling agent.
What are the three body types?
So what is your body type? It is broken down into three categories and rarely does anyone’s body fit into a specific category, we usually blend into two categories. The three body types are mesomorphs, ectomorphs, and endomorphs.
1. Mesomorphs can pack on extreme muscle definition like a champion, have huge heads and shoulders (yes I do), and their bodies are shaped like a wedge. Mesomorphs can be successful athletes (I was a college volleyball player and I am now an avid weight trainer and runner) and they are endurance machines. With this body type you will not have “man muscles” if you lift heavy, it is eating excess calories in your diet in combination with heavy lifting that will make you larger and seem like you have “man muscles”.
2. Ectomorphs are built very lean, have a smaller frame build, and are champions at pounding down ice cream without gaining any weight. They often dominate in endurance races. So sorry, the little framed ladies who are ultra-thin rarely have an eating disorder.
3. Endomorphs hold more body fat because their metabolism is slower than mesomorphs and ectomorphs. Endomorphs are built with a wider frame structure and have a curvaceous build. This means you can weight train AND keep amazing curves without looking as “manly” as I do. So endomorph ladies, it’s time to stop hiding your curves and realize embracing your body exactly how it is, is the first step to healing your negative self-consciousness.
So what type of body do you have? Easy to pack on the muscle, super skinny, or are you packing lovely curves that could steal the attention of any man (or woman) when you walk into a room?
Take a minute to discover what your body type is. It is time to stop clouding your head with false images of a body you are not genetically designed to achieve. In further amazing news, you are perfect the way you are and it is now your time to embrace your beautiful body.
