Boxes at Trash Pickup – One of the things that will catch the eye of a burglar is the boxes or trash you put out at the curb for pickup. The same goes for computers, jewelry boxes, and other valuable items. So, try to avoid putting anything like this at the trash pickup.
Opened Windows / Easy Window Access – Another thing a burglar will look for is opened windows and windows that are easy to access from the ground. An opened window is an invitation to come on in. Windows that are easily accessed from the ground is also an easy target for burglars and you need to make sure these are secured.
Dark / Unoccupied Homes – Burglars are more likely to strike a home that has no lighting or appears to have no one at home. The darker the area, the better chance they have to get in the home and out. It is important to have outside lights at your home and leave lights burning inside the home when you are not home.
Alarm System Signs – If a burglar sees a sign in the yard that you are alarmed with a system, they will more than likely move on down the road. It is best to get a generic sign for your yard so burglars don’t know what alarm system you are with.
