By now New York Knicks fans are used to losing. The latest loss came from the Dallas Mavericks with Dirk Nowitzki hitting a buzzer beating shot at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks fell to an abysmal 21-36 record overall this season.
But what happened after the game was more troubling.
According to multiple reports, Raymond Felton was arrested at about 12:50 a.m., hours after the game, as he turned himself in. Early police reports tell us that his estranged wife was involved and brought the gun to the police after Felton continuously left the gun and multiple bullets at their Manhattan apartment.
The biggest problem according to police is not Felton’s action, but the fact that the gun was unregistered. We all remember ex-New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress who infamously shot himself in New York City. Burress served 20 months in prison for not having a registered gun in the city, even though it was registered in the state of Florida.
It is very early, but things don’t look very good for Mr. Felton. Felton is a former first round draft pick who isn’t exactly in the prime of his career. Felton, at just 29 years old hasn’t kept in the best shape either. New York City is also known for it’s strict gun laws, as we previously witnessed with Burress. What’s make this even worse is, according to NYC officials, the gun and ammunition aren’t legal inside the city anyway.
Maybe the Knicks should have kept Jeremy Lin instead.
