You do not need to spend a lot of money on a child’s party to make it fun. Many people are going way out for a birthday party. I can’t even imagine the money being spent. Yes a child’s birthday is very special but it does not need to cost more then you can afford.
You can have a dress up party where all the kids come with a costume on. They can wear what ever they want. Or you can take a trip to a thrift store and buy some outfits for the kids to play dress up with. Or take the kids to the thrift store and let them pick out something to wear. Make a cake that is in the shape of a shirt and make sure everyone gets a hat to wear. Then let the kids get creative and have fun.
Have an old fashioned birthday party where you play old time games like hide and seek, tag, pin the tail on the donkey, duck duck goose, and kick the can. Bring out the bingo and have the kids play that and as they win give out some small prizes. Give the kids a long stick and some marshmallows to roast with the stick. Start up a campfire and watch the kids so they do not burn themselves. Sing some good old campfire songs and have old fashion games like yo yos and whistles as party favors.
Get a pile of sand and mix some coins into it. Then let the kids dig for the money. You can also hid little gifts in the sand for the kids to find.
If you do not have a yard you can have the party in a park where there is playground equipment for the kids to play on. Roast some hot dogs and have potato chips and cake. Ice cream can be good too.
If there is a new movie out that the kids want to see take them to a matinee. The afternoon movie is not as expensive as the nighttime movies and then bring the kids back to your place for pizza and cake. Have a sleep over on the same night if you have enough energy left.
Have a treasure hunt or a scavenger hunt for the kids to do. On a treasure hunt make a map and have it lead the kids to a prize. Make the kids go to several places before they get the prizes. On a scavenger hunt have the kids look for a list of items that you give them to find. Give everyone a prize for going on the scavenger hunt.
Kid’s parties do not have to be a big expensive affair to be fun. It can be simple and still be fun.
