There have been a lot of rumors floating around about the upcoming “Jurassic World” movie. As with most movie rumors, especially those surrounding popular blockbusters, it is unclear which of them are true and which are false. Slash Film recently conducted an interview with “Jurassic World” director Colin Trevorrow and it turns out many of the recent rumors about his movie turned out to be true. Trevorrow seemed very annoyed in the interview that someone was leaking these plot details, but he took the time to talk about what this next dinosaur movie will be about.
An Amusement Park
In the first “Jurassic Park” movie, the entire plot was about John Hammond opening a giant amusement park where people from all over the world could come and see real dinosaurs. This was done through the cloning of the dinosaurs, which ended up going very wrong when the security systems broke down and the dangerous dinosaurs broke free and started hunting humans.
It turns out that, by “Jurassic World,” this dream amusement park was realized. According to Trevorrow, the park gets over 20,000 visitors a day, who arrive by ferry and enjoys the dinosaur amusement park. There is a luxury resort with all the amenities. This really ups the ante from the first movie, which saw a small handful of people running for their lives. If there are 20,000 people on the island in a day, that means if the dinosaurs break through, a real disaster movie starts to take place.
There are no good or bad dinosaurs
There is one scene in the first movie where the kids sit in the tree and feed a Brachiosaurus. It is a sweet scene, as is one later on when the doctor helps deliver a dinosaur baby. However, Trevorrow revealed in his interview that there are no good or bad dinosaurs in “Jurassic World.” He said that the dinosaurs are all either predators or prey. According to the director, there will be no dinosaurs saving the heroes, and the movie is really about how humans deal with animals. Chris Pratt’s character exists to conduct behavioral research on the dinosaurs and figure out why they act as they do.
New dinosaur creation
However, just because there are no good or bad dinosaurs, this doesn’t mean there isn’t a very dangerous threat. The geneticists, as usual in a science fiction movie, always want more. They always want something bigger, faster, stronger and more imposing. As is the case with movies about creation, with “Frankenstein” as a perfect example, when humans try to play God, bad things happen. According to Trevorrow, when the geneticists try to create something bigger and louder, with more teeth, from mixing DNA of different dinosaurs, they get exactly what they set out to create.
