As our world becomes more dependent on technology, human contact is quickly becoming a fading trend of the past. Many people find that they do not have the time for making new friends much less finding Mr. or Mrs. Right. As internet dating sites are on the rise, many people are finding themselves turning to these sites to find their “soul mate”. There are pros and cons when it comes to internet dating. There are reports of successful relationships, and there are reported dangers as well. Taking both sides into consideration I decided to acquire an opinion from someone that is experienced in the internet dating world. The person that I interviewed did have a happy ending, finding the woman of his dreams, however; he warns of things to look for, and steps to take, to assure you have a safe and successful internet dating experience as well. The next two paragraphs are the recommendations directly from my source based on his own internet dating experience.
“Many are still skeptical when it comes to online dating, but only from the fear of the unknown, so let me tell you all about it; ladies first. The woman must consider herself a gold digger, I mean literally. You are going to have to sift through tons of dirt to find your nugget of gold. You will not have to beat the bushes like the menfolk, they will all come to you. I’ve seen average, lovely, foxy ladies get as much as a 1000 responses. It will be a full time job whacking those weeds to find daylight. Do not worry about meeting Ted Bundy on your first date. There are stages to this process. First is email, you can find out everything about this prospect with the power of the big bad web. Next is the phone test. I, myself have talked as long as 5 hours, switching ears many times to avoid a pressure sore. If the person has not made you ill by then, it is time to meet. By now you should know their entire life story. Ladies do not hesitate to do a background investigation, it could be the best twenty dollars you ever spent. Before you lay eyes on the beau, you will know more about this guy than you do our own president”. (Anonymous Source)
“Fellas, the internet is a good tool. Not all of us have the pick up skills of the ascended masters but you could steal some of their techniques in getting them to take a shine to you down the road. The men have to be like fly fisherman, you have to cast out that reel many times to get a bite. In fact I had to send 10 to 20 emails, (not winks), custom emails to get one single response. Half the time that response would be “thanks, but i just a call from Brad Pitt right before you contacted me”. Total, it would take 100 emails to get one date. So, 4 out of 5 girls that respond to your email are going to the wayside. Why? Some are just curious or bored, and you never had a shot. Now, they say that you should not have to see more than 25 ladies to find “Mrs Right”, so that is 7500 emails your going to have to send if your looking for the certain someone. I hope you took typing in high school, if not you will still be up to 30 words a minute when find your clementine”. (Anonymous Source)
Of course, results will vary per individual. The opinions above are from an actual account of a successful internet dating encounter. Although this story is a successful one, please exercise caution when conducting any type of contact on the internet. There are predators out there, and they are constantly looking for victims. Remember, always take the necessary precautions, and always, make sure someone you trust goes with you for the initial meeting, or is close by. It is vital that they have all of the information about this person that you have. It is always better to be safe than sorry.
Stay safe and happy hunting!!
