Are you asking yourself “Where are the great steak restaurants near me”? I’d like to introduce you to a restaurant that has been in Glendale, California for thirty years or more. It has been a favorite of Glendale locals for years. Though it has gone through some changes through the years, our family still thinks that it will continue to be a Glendale, California favorite.
Damon’s menu offers a wide selection of appetizers, beef, chicken, and fish items. Our family has eaten there several times through the years. What is worth the price mark up and what should customers stay away from? Are they worth all the awards that they have won during the time they have been in business?
Our family has tried the Famous Cheeseburger, Garlic Mash Potatoes, Broiled Chicken Breast, Twice baked potato, Prime Rib, and Mahi Mahi. The Famous Cheeseburger is not as famous as they would like it to be. It’s a nice cheeseburger but nothing to go to an upscale restaurant for. The Garlic Mash Potatoes were decent. I wish they just had put a little more butter in them. I know that they were trying to go for more of a roasted garlic flavor but sometimes olive oil doesn’t blend well with mashed potatoes.
What about the broiled chicken breast? The chicken breast was actually tender. I wish that there had been some kind of sauce on the broiled chicken breast. Or if the Chef had offered toppers like the steak dinners had then it would be better. The Twice bake potato goes really well with the broiled chicken breast. There is the lightness of the chicken. Then it’s paired with something sinful like sour cream, chives, and cheddar cheese.
The ultimate menu items are the steaks, prime rib, and the different types of fish. The Mahi Mahi turned out to be really flakey and tender. The prime rib is cooked to perfection. I really like the butter sauce that Damon’s used on the fish. I didn’t actually have a steak item but my mom really did enjoy hers with the grilled mushrooms.
Damon’s Steak House is not the perfect steak restaurant near me. It does have its down sides which can be avoided. This restaurant is very crowded on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Be sure to make reservations. Also to plan to have at least one drink because it’s usually a thirty minute wait even if reservations are made. The waiting area just doesn’t have enough seating. I remember standing under a loud announcement speaker for an hour the last night I ate at this restaurant.
Would I recommend Damon’s to family and friends? If my family and friends were looking for a restaurant near them to splurge at then I would suggest it. This is more of a place where a person would take their friends, older family members, and dates. Though they will serve families with young children, it’s really more of a dinner house than a family restaurant.
