In researching topics to cover I stumbled across a picture that stated “Waking UP Thinner IS WORTH Going TO BED HUNGRY” and was IMMEDIATELY disgusted by the message it was portraying.
Is this the message that we are truly teaching ladies to believe? If so we all need to go back to the drawing board. As a smaller framed woman with some curves I LOVE LOVE food. I will never go to bed hungry matter of fact I have on many occasions woken up and eaten well past my bedtime. I am a strong believer in being HEALTHY and working out the way you think it is most beneficial to your schedule. BUT I think that messages like the above are what help the continuance eating disorders and misguided views about body image. Being sexy does not mean being skinny. Being healthy does not mean you have to weigh less than 130 pounds. All in all screw what other’s think and do what makes you healthy and comfortable.
We have to figure where these negative mindsets and stereotypes are starting from. Yes we can say its the media and the pictures that we see, but honestly there has to be something that is drilled in within us. Think about it this way. When you got your first Barbie did you get it because you wanted a Barbie? Or was it because your mother bought it for you before you even knew what a Barbie was? Some things are passed down from generation to generation. In my opinion if we start at home we can start the change! But I’m just one woman what do I know?
