You looked past the infidelities,
Said you saw the best in me.
Created the notion we would forever ride,
Then, in the blink of an eye, hung me out to dry.
With a hard slap to the face,
All the beautiful colors started to fade.
Behind the shadows laid plenty bleached lies,
At crunch time you would only run & hide.
For no apparent reason,
Not even a simple explanation why.
You left me all alone and broken,
Wounded so deep felt like I was going to die.
My heart desperately held on to a feeling oh-so strong,
Convinced myself it was a case of much needed space.
Brain constantly screaming, “Wake up moron!! Time to move on,
He claims someone else can assume your place.”
With all the past behind,
Mutual pain set aside.
I still thought maybe one day,
You would have told me why.
After all the shit that we made it through,
Good, bad and the ugly too.
Couldn’t you put yourself in my shoes and,
Just find it in you, to kiss and say goodbye…?
