Let your child make her own inedible version of the ice cream cone. You’ll need brown paper to make the cones. Roll the paper into a cone shape. Cut the top of the cone to make it level if necessary. Use pompoms to make the scoops of ice cream. You can get pompoms in lots of different sizes. Get different sizes so you can stack them from largest right on the cone to smallest on top. Use a small red pompom on top for the cherry. Don’t forget the sprinkles. Tiny beads work well.
Shaving Cream Paint Ice Cream
Mix shaving cream with glue and you get a puffy paint that is fun to put onto paper. Add food coloring or paint if you want your ice cream a different color. Cut a cone shape from brown paper. Glue it to a larger piece of paper. Now you’re ready to apply the ice cream. Let your child slather on the mixture in the shape of a scoop of ice cream.
Bowl of Ice Cream
Start with a plastic or paper bowl for this craft. You’ll need Styrofoam balls for the ice cream scoops. Choose an appropriate size that will fit in the bowl. You can use one large ball or several smaller balls. Let your child paint the foam ball in a color that matches the flavor she wants to make. Drizzle thinned brown paint over the top of the ball as the chocolate syrup. Add beads in various shapes to be the sprinkles on the ice cream. Add a red pompom to the top with a dot of hot glue. For a real look, stick a plastic spoon into one of the Styrofoam balls of “ice cream”.
