Why use a customized tone on my Galaxy S5?
It’s all too known by Galaxy S5 owners that when out in public and using the default notification tones, you know just when someone is getting a notification or call on their Samsung Galaxy phones. And, oftentimes, you’ll just have to check your own Galaxy S5 to be sure that you’re not missing a message.
The easiest way to choose a custom ringtone (mp3, m4a (aac), ogg etc.) on most Android smartphones would be to select your chosen tone under “Use as Ringtone”, however, unfortunately there isn’t a similar option for selecting custom Notification and Alarm tones.
The simplest and most innovative solution for most Galaxy S5 users is to manually choose custom notification and alarm tones for your Galaxy S5, to easily know for certain when you’re getting a call or notification and know from who all without having to even glance at your screen by simply customizing the notification tones on your Galaxy S5.
Using this method you can personalize the notification tones for all of your incoming messages including your Gmail, and other messaging apps, and easily discern whether a notification is from your business account or private account, from your contacts, or from S Planner.
How to customize Galaxy S5 ringtones?
Start by connecting your Galaxy S5 as a USB storage device mounting the inserted MicroSD storage card. Be certain to mount the storage card, not the phone itself.
The contents aside, you will need to create three new directories in the root directory named precisely correct or else your phone will bypass them. Name the three folders: alarms , notifications , and ringtones.
Depending on whether you’re setting a particular tone for which type of sound notification, simply copy a supported audio file (mp3, m4a (aac), ogg, ect.) into the appropriate corresponding folder, then verify working:
The newly added files will appear in their appropriate lists ready for you to customize. Ringtones: Settings – Sound and display – Phone ringtone
Text Messages: Settings – Sound and display – Notification sound
Alarm: set custom sound when a “New Alarm” is added.
