Whether it’s summer, winter, spring or fall it seems that everyone loves to have coffee when they are at a party. Having hosted, and helped with lots of parties, it one thing that has always stood out, especially when someone asks for coffee at a barbecue. That’s why I have found it to be easier to set up a coffee bar for everyone to help themselves during a party, even in hot weather. So below are my tips for setting up a coffee bar at any party, at any time of the year.
Hot and cold
Obviously in the summer months many may want coffee but not hot coffee, so your coffee bar will need to have some cold options. This means that you will need to set up a bucket of ice at your coffee station so that your guests will be able to make the coffee ice cold. In the summer I have found it easier to brew the coffee at home and then allow it to cool down. Once it is cool you can place the coffee into containers and in the refrigerator before leaving for the party. If you are hosting an outdoor party then freeze half of the coffee. When you are ready to leave for the party place the frozen and unfrozen coffee into a cooler full of ice. You will also want to keep the cream, on ice as well for the entire party. Keep the cooler set up under the table, so that the ice, and cream items are well within reach.
Table set up
Of course you will need a decorative table cloth to cover the coffee table. I also like to make sure that each item has plenty of labels so that you know what each item is. For a hot coffee table you can use hot thermoses to hold the coffee, and label one regular and one decaf coffee. You will also need to label the sugar, and cream. If possible try to have different flavored coffee available for your guests. Then don’t forget the small things like coffee stirs, and spoons.
Keep tea off the table
I know a lot of people like to have the tea and coffee together in one spot. I however have found that if you are setting up a coffee bar that it should be strictly coffee. This allows you to put out a nice variety of coffee options to choose from. You can put the tea items on another table. This allows you the ability to decorate the table nicely.
Fat Free options
Don’t forget to also have some fat free cream, milk, and some sweet and low. Remember that not everyone likes to have the fat filling coffee, but would prefer something a bit healthier. Remember to label everything with nice big labels. This helps to keep long lines from forming in front of the coffee bar.
