I’m always looking out for a great deal on the things that I need. Different life expenses, such as food and clothing, are something everyone encounters. Most people need some form of entertainment to increase their quality of life as well. Here’s how I personally save money on all the different life expenses as well as entertainment expenses.
1. Saving money on groceries.
There are a couple of ways that I save money on food. First of all I try not to stay loyal to just one store. I research the different ads for all the local grocery stores as well as keeping in mind about the various discount grocery stores. Some discount grocery stores, like Winco, do not typically have ads. This is how they pass even more savings down to their customer because they don’t spend much, if any, money on advertising. I do notice that the grocery stores that I see ads for on TV and other media typically have higher prices on their food. The way that I am able to get discounts at the higher priced grocery stores is by having their club cards. Safeway is one store that I regularly shop at where I use a club card. The great thing about this card is that you can directly load coupons on to the card instead of clipping out the coupons and physically bringing them.
Another way that I save money on groceries is by having membership at Sam’s Club, which is a warehouse store. Warehouse stores, like Sam’s Club and Costco, are great for getting good prices for larger sized items. I have a pet rabbit who eats a lot of fresh vegetables. I am able to buy a larger container of lettuce at Sam’s Club for a better price than at regular grocery store which saves me a lot of money. Some people think it’s a lot to spend to buy a membership to a warehouse store but I personally think you get your money back, and then some through all the savings, every year of the membership.
2. Saving money on clothes.
My secret when it comes to saving money on clothes is buying clothes off of eBay. Through bids and “buy it now” sales I usually am able to score great deals on any type of clothing that I am looking for. Sometimes I will buy what is called a “lot”. A “lot”, when referred to items sold on eBay, is a listing that consists of multiple items. For an example, the other day I bought a lot consisting of 14 different clothing pieces. This is a way to buy many different items at once for usually a great price. I like finding listings that have a “make best offer” choice because then I’ll will offer the seller a lower price than what they are asking. I very rarely have my offers declined. When I do buy clothes from eBay sometimes the clothes will be brand new while other times they may be slightly used. Either way it’s much cheaper than going out to a clothing store and buying brand new clothing off of the rack.
3. Saving money on entertainment.
It can be very boring to not have any form of entertainment in one’s life. I have found different ways on how to save money on various forms of entertainment. For actually going out to a movie theater to watch a movie can be pricey these days but there are ways to save money. Most people know about matinee showings, which is a discount on movies tickets for movies typically played earlier in the day. In additional to matinee showings some theaters will offer a specific day for even deeper discounts. Two of the local movie theaters near me both offer $5 Tuesdays. This means all showings for any movie all day Tuesday are just $5. This is really great for families that wouldn’t be able to afford to take the whole family out at regular priced times. This is also the cheapest way to see the most current movie releases.
Other ways that I save money on entertainment is by buying admission tickets through Groupon. Groupon is a really great place to save money on admission tickets, food, and lodging. You can practically plan a whole trip by using Groupon. Recently I bought a couple California State Fair admission tickets through Groupon. In doing so I’m saving 50% on these admission tickets. I’ve used Groupon on various other things as well and haven’t been disappointed yet.
