If you are looking to earn experience points (XP) quickly in Borderlands 2, challenges are the way to earn them fast. The experience point rewards from challenges range from 500 points to 20,000 point depending on difficulty and expected time to complete. Over the course of the game you will naturally complete many of them, but it will be slow and your rewards will usually be commensurate with other experience point rewards at your level. This guide will teach you how to quickly earn experience points from challenges in Borderlands 2.
Loot, Sell, and Buy – The first town where you meet Sir Hammerlock is a treasure trove of challenge experience points, if you are willing to spend a little extra time here and willing to occasionally reset the game. Loot every single object in the town you can. There are about a dozen total objects that can be looted. Sell everything to the shop and buy the cheapest non-ammo items you can afford. Sell them back to the shop, save, and reload your game. After about four runs you should earn about 3,000 experience points and after about 20 runs you should earn another 6,000 XP. If you have the patience to do this another roughly 60 times, you will earn approximately 15,000 more experience points, but that is probably longer than you want to spend looting a town.
Fire Like a Madman – Bullets are cheap in the first town, especially if you loot the town, sell everything, and don’t buy anything with that money. Get an assault rifle and max out your ammo for it. Then just pull the trigger. Don’t walk away from the ammo shop, because as soon as you are completely out of ammo, you will buy up to full. Do this about 10 times and you will earn 1,000 experience points. If you have the patience to do it another 40 times, roughly, you will earn 2,000 more experience points. The next rewards requires a lot more firing and you will almost certainly run out of money or patience first, but at least this 3,000 experience was very fast to earn.
Three Horns Divide – When you finally reach Sanctuary you can earn 6,000 experience points with only a little work. Jump in vehicle and go straight to Three Horns Divide. Kill all the skags there with your vehicle and then leave through the gate. Turn around and come back to kill the respawned skags. Repeat until you have killed 250, which will take about 20 respawns, and you’ll have the free experience.
Return to the Easy Life – Once you have reached Sanctuary, you should be plenty strong enough to return to where Boom and Bewm are and mow down any enemies in your path. Choose a weapon with a good ammo supply or choose melee if you are Krieg. Tear through the enemies in the area just before the boss with only that weapon. Use your action skill as often as possible while doing this. Once they are dead or in annoying locations, go to the boss area and kill psychos. After you have thinned that herd, drop off the cliff and return to the first area. Repeat this process until you run out of ammo or patience. You should easily gain at least 6,000 experience points and maybe as much as 9,000 XP if your action skill is easy to use. If you are fighting in melee and really patient, you should be able to earn as much as another 15,000 XP in about an hour of work.
Friendly Duels – If you happen to have a friend who also plays Borderlands 2, get into a bunch of duels. Win 10 for 500 experience points and win 50 for another 1,000 XP. The next rewards are at 250 and 1,000 wins, but that is probably too much patience to ask from a friend, especially since you really should be returning the favor.
