Follow these steps to improve the air quality in your house and to help your family breathe easy:
Buy some plants – If you don’t have any house plants consider purchasing some. According to a research done by NASA, plants absorb harmful gases and clean the polluted air in your house. However, not all plants remove the same toxins, so it may be a good idea to buy several different ones. Some remove the toxins found in the plastics in your home, while others remove the paint vapors, etc. NASA recommends plants such as: Gerbera Daisy, Dracaena Massangeana, Philodendron and more. The more house plants you have the better.
Change your air filters – A dusty air filter blows dust in the room when the AC unit is working. Purify the air in your house by replacing them more often. The air filters capture smoke, allergens, bacteria, mold spores and more. Make sure you change them often so that they can function properly.
Buy a dehumidifier / air purifier – If you have too much humidity in the air you should consider purchasing a dehumidifier. It removes a lot of moisture out of the wood in your house or coming from underneath your house, like a wet crawlspace for example. An air purifier works extremely well for allergy sufferers. It removes dust particles, pet dandruff, paint vapors, etc. Just remember to change the filter in the air purifier when needed to keep it working properly.
Open windows and doors – What an easy and great way to eliminate polluted air in your house. Just open windows and doors once a day for half an hour, to bring some fresh air in your home.
Use Lysol – Purifying the air with contact cleaners (like Lysol), works, but only temporarily. It kills the bacteria and viruses that make you sick.
Do necessary repairs underneath your house – A lot of the air we breathe comes from the AC unit and from underneath the house through the AC ducts. If you have growing mold, standing water and other fungi, some of the spores could make their way into the house. Have your home inspected and do the necessary work for a cleaner air.
Purify the air in your house for a healthier living. It will help you sleep better at night and feel more energized during the day. Give it a try!
