If you’re dealing with a hungry, whining kid that’s about to have a tantrum, there’s nothing easier than a quick snack to put him at ease. I came up with the following solution when my 6-year-old came home from school and wanted a snack. Rather than grabbing for a bag of chips, I told him I’d make him a surprise snack. Although you don’t have to be Martha Stewart or Rachel Ray to make this snack, it is sure not to disappoint. Here’s what I did.
Thing You Need:
1 paper plate
1 slice of cheese
1 slice of turkey
2 slices of bread
Place the slice of turkey on the center of the paper plate and place the slice of cheese right on top of it. You want the slices to be about the same size as the slices of bread that you’re using. Always put the cheese on top of the turkey so it won’t stick to the plate. You can use any type of turkey and cheese that you have in the fridge.
Put the paper plate with the slices of turkey and cheese in the microwave for about 15 seconds or just long enough to soften and slightly melt the cheese.
Remove the paper plate from the microwave and cover the slices of turkey and cheese with a slice of bread.
Place your open hand over the slice of bread and turn the plate upside down. Slowly remove the paper plate so the warmed up slices end up on the slice of bread.
Take the second slice of bread and place it over the turkey slice to form a sandwich.
Cut the crusts off the sandwich (optional) and serve it on the paper plate with your child’s favorite drink.
