Around this time of the year lizards like to come out and about. Some of us are scared of lizards. This is understandable considering we are unwelcoming to anything that is foreign. What you didn’t know that lizards are actually afraid of us. So how do we get rid of them? In this article I will show you.
First of all, I’m pretty sure there was a time when you did not have any lizards around. Probably the fall or winter, right? Well that is because lizards are attracted to bugs. By attracted, I mean that is their food. They eat bugs to survive. I can also guarantee they didn’t come around until the spring and summer. This is when bugs also come into play. All of this means if you get rid of the bugs, the lizards will have no purpose around your house. So how do you get rid of the bugs? One way is to cut down shrubbery close to your house. Another way is to get flypaper. For one, this will trap the bugs. It will also attract the lizard, causing them to get trapped as well.
Another way to get rid of lizards is to buy moth balls. Moth balls are used to kill snakes. Moth balls also work on lizards. Put the moth balls around the perimeter of your house. The lizards will either die from consumption of leave quickly because of the smell. Do not let your pets around them. Another way to get rid of lizards are roach scented lizard traps. Roach scented lizard traps are similar to a mouse trap. These traps smell like roaches and will attract the lizard. Just like a mouse to cheese. Then the spring loaded trap will snap and capture the lizard just like a mouse.
Also another way to get rid of lizards is pepper spray. You will need a spray bottle, pepper, and crushed red pepper. Fill the bottle up with water, then add the pepper, and crushed red pepper. Put the top on and screw it tight. Shake the mixture up. Spray around where your lizard pests are located. Preferably outside because this will also bothers you. I sprayed this on my front porch and it irritated the lizards. They where still in m y yard, but not near my house. My final resort is to get a cat. We had a stray cat that we fed. So I guess you can call it ours now. His name was Smokey but he was very fast on his feet. He caught almost every lizard in site. All animals are different but Smokey did not kill the lizards. Instead he caught them and waited for me to dispose of them! I hope this has helped you with your lizard problem. Remember that they are scared of you!
