Summer is just around the corner and it’s time to get those toes right! Now, I personally do not have pretty feet (I’ve been told my toes look like fingers), but I do the best I can to make them presentable. I want to share a few of my pedi secrets with you. You will find these most beneficial if your feet are on the not-so-gorgeous side or if you simply do not have time to get a professional pedicure every week.
Before we get started, let’s talk about the basics. Try to soak your feet at least once a week and moisturize them twice a day-once right after you soak them and again before you go to bed. This moisture will keep your skin looking and feeling smooth. Now that we got that out the way, let’s get started on out pedicure!
Moisture treatment. Here is a moisture treatment that I use on my feet that works like a charm. This makes my feet soft, smooth, and pretty. Not to mention, the moisture lasts a long time. This is a great treatment to use if your feet are really dry or callused. TIP: Take a glob of petroleum jelly and rub it on your feet and ankles. Then take a plastic grocery bag, stick your feet in it, then tie or wrap it around your ankles. Next, get your thickest pair of socks and put it on over your plastic covered feet. Leave this on your feet for 1.5 hours or more (sometimes I do it overnight). Then take the socks and bag off your feet and rub your feet with a slightly damp wash cloth to remove excess oil. You won’t believe how beautiful your feet will look and feel!
Trim your toenails straight across. Professionals say that this helps prevent ingrown nails. But it’s also a very flattering look. It makes your pedi look professionally done. TIP: In order to get that perfect trim, let your toenails grow out to a point where it is a tiny bit too long, then cut it as low as you desire. When you trim it straight across, keep a steady hand and make sure it is really straight. Sometimes you can end up cutting an irregular line (like a diagonal line) which isn’t as flattering.
Wear sparkly polishes. Pearlescent and shimmery polishes look great on toe nails. It makes the ugliest of feet look softer, feminine, and pretty. Try light pink, silver, gold, purple and peach. Those colors flatter everyone. TIP: Coat each nail by starting from the base of the nail and slowly move all the way to the tip of the nail in one smooth line. This way you will avoid lumps. Continue this motion until the whole nail is painted. Then follow up with a second coat if necessary (after the first coat dries).
And there you have it: 3 tips to gorgeous feet. It works, believe me. And it saves lots of time and money. You will definitely be wearing your open toes for the summer, so go ahead and get those feet looking presentable. Enjoy your summer!
