Writing comes as second nature to some but not all. For those of us who aren’t writers by nature have to work at it a little harder. I found that the harder we think about it the harder it becomes to find a topic. When this happens it begins to frustrate you and this only makes the whole process worse my solution was to stop trying. Yes I know it sounds counterproductive but it really is quite the opposite. The reason why it is helpful to stop trying to think is because in the attempt to find something you become focused. To much focus on any one thing doesn’t allow you to see the whole picture,
In most cases focus is what you need but not when you are trying to think freely. So what you want to do is go about your day as you normally would. As you go about your day you will start to realize that your thoughts flow freely and all of the sudden things start to come to mind. Take a paper and write them down so that you won’t forget later on when you have time you can come back to it. Write down everything because one idea will lead into another as you begin to write about your ideas.
For example if you work on cars there are many things that one could talk about because a car is a complex piece of machinery and they come in so many varieties and manufacturers that you might never run out of things to say. However lets suppose that you were to write about this you wold start off talking about an oil change and that would lead to something else that may be related but not exactly be related directly. How you might recommend that someone change their oil filter every time they change their oil because if they don’t it pretty much defeats the purpose of changing the oil.
So when you get stumped with writers block fight back by simply freeing your mind. Think outside the box don’t sweat it because it will come to you. When it does take it and run with it. Good luck I hope that this helps as much as it has me in the past when I have found myself sitting in front of an empty page scratching my head with a pen or pencil.
