Adding a unique outdoor play area to your yard can be a lot of fun, to create and play in later. The process is pretty simple to do, and you can even have the kids pitch in and help. Most of the supplies can be purchased online at Amazon.com, or you can try your local toy store, or Home improvement store. Keep reading below to find out how to create this great looking space in your home.
Step # 1 Supplies:
Start by getting an old kiddie pool, you can purchase this from a local yard sale, or you can purchase one at your local Walmart store. The pools themselves are pretty inexpensive. I would recommend purchasing one of the inflatable pools, that is big enough to hold a few kids in the ball pit area. Whether you buy a used one or a new one make sure that you take the time to clean it out first. You will also need an old bed sheet to use as a cover over the pool when not in use. This will help to keep the pool clean and free of any debris. You will also need to purchase a bunch of average size water balloons. I have found ordering these type of items online in bulk seems to be the best option. You can get a bunch of them from Amazon.
Step # 2 Setup:
Next comes the fun part, of setting up the water balloon ball pit. Start by making sure the pool has been cleaned well. You don’t want any dirt floating around. Next put some water in the pool about an inch of water will do nicely. You want the balloons to slightly float on top of the water. Now you can start filling up the water balloons. If it’s possible try filling them up outside near the pool. Then you will not have to use a separate bucket to transport the balloons. Just toss them in the swimming pool when they are filled up. Keep filling the balloons until the pool is almost completely filled and resembles a ball pit. Place some more water on top of the balloons, but not too much. Remember you want the balloons to stay in the pool not fall out as soon as someone jumps into it.
Step # 3 Test it out:
Now comes the really fun part of testing it out. You can have the kids help with this part. They would jump in just like they were going swimming. The goal is to try and pop all of the balloons in the pool by jumping all around. Since this is a kiddie size pool be sure that no one takes any huge leaps and dives into the pool. You would basically play like you were in a ball pit.
Step# 4 Safety:
Remember that this is made for young kids who should be closely watched by their parents while they are using the pool. You still want your kids to be safe. Once all of the balloons are popped, you will want to pick up the balloon pieces and throw them away. Everyone who participated in the fun can help with the clean up.
