For those who live in a cave, Facebook is a social media site where people can keep in touch with friends and family, follow pages whether it’s a celebrity or dog food, and play little games that put a smile on your face. So far Facebook has been a way for me to attempt to hold onto dying friendships and a place where old classmates can judge me. So why do I keep going on every single day, several times a day? I live with my boyfriend, an amazing man, but unfortunately because of the way I choose to live my life he is most of the company I get. Facebook is my way of telling my family I still exist.
Family is extremely important to me; even when things are a bit rough I will always be there for my family. Since all of my sisters grew up and moved away (me included) it is hard to keep in touch with them and it is settling to know that I can just message my sisters at any time and say “Hey, I love you! Now please give me my travel mugs back.” It is also nice too keep track on my younger sisters and see how beautiful they’ve gotten over the years.
It is also an amazing place for a little entertainment. I used to be obsessed with games like Pet Society and Frontierville and spent a lot of time on them creating the perfect little worlds but unfortunately, and I learned this the hard way, some Facebook games that you get really into just shut down sometimes taking all of your valuable time and money you spent on the game with them. So naturally I just stopped playing them.
Facebook is also where I can like my favorite shows, stores, and celebrities pages and keep up with their news feed, episodes, etc. I love that I never miss a preview from my favorite shows and I can follow interesting fashion trends that I will never actually wear but still think is beautiful.
Overall Facebook is like the glue that keeps me in touch with the world. I’m not proud of that but I’d rather be with it then without.
